The construction of Iran’s new space centre is nearing completion, a centre that will be named after the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini.
This came in a statement issued for the IRNA news agency by Iran’s Defence Minister, Ahmad Wahidi.
According to him, 80% of the space centre has been completed, and will soon serve as a launchpad for Iranian-made satellites. The first to take off will be Iran’s Tolou satellite.
Tehran also plans to carry out commercial launches of satellites from other Islamic countries.
The Minister did not disclose the location of the new space centre.
